City Council voted to defer the decision to implement new taxes that would result in a tax grab of $354 million. The taxes would double the land transfer tax on the purchase of a new home and increase the cost of Motor Vehicle Registration from $70 a year to $130 per year. Council decided that taxation of Toronto Residents should be used as a last resort and that the provincial government should address downloading issues first.
