20 Year Sole Source Contract Approved Despite Staff Recommendation to go to Public Tender to Promote Openness and Transparency in Tendering Process

City Council approved a 20 year sole source contract for Tubbs Restaurant, ignoring staff recommendations to issue an open RFP. Tubbs has been at this location for the past 20 years. This site offers a tremendous opportunity to seek outside interest at redeveloping a unique location on the boardwalk. Instead City Councillors gave the inside track to one proponent. Now, we'll never know what could have been, or what other revenues may have been available.
